Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I started working on that song for that reason, although I didn't know that stat. It's a great song, but I feel so sad when I hear her stuff already. Hopefully she'll come to a full recovery, but she sure is a cautionary tale for my vocal students who tend to ignore my advice.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just 'cuz.

Elliott Smith's "Waltz #2" on French TV. (With Janet Weiss on drums.)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Album covers minus the dead guys. I actually find this more depressing than funny (esp. the Ramones one): [link]

Yeah, I just figured that out.

But it's still awesome! Mainly because it makes me think of Glamcookie rocking out in the 90s.

Where do you come from? Where do you go? What is your scene, baby? We just gotta know.

The line, “You can go to a record store, and sell your CDs!” makes me laugh every time.
