Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Just got this request forwarded to me. Anyone know?

I have a patron who is trying to find out which 1960s pop musician (male) just came out of the closet within the last month and made a comment that he should have done this 40 years ago. So far 2 librarians have searched the internet, Google news, Infotrac, etc. and can't come up with anything! I am hoping someone may just know this off the top of their head. If you do please let me know! Thanks!

Ann, that's a ferret.

The only out '60s pop musician I can think of offhand is Lesley Gore. Who came out several years ago and, of course, is not male.

I think Johnny Mathis is out, but I'd call him a '50s singer.

When did JM come out?

Ann, that's a ferret.

Wikipedia says he came out in 1982, went back in, then came out again about 3 years ago.

Thanks, FP. That could be the answer.

Our wings are not tired.

It's so funny thinking that JM ever actually thought he was "in" a closet.

I never knew Johnny Mathis was gay.

Nope. I guess I've never really considered Johnny Mathis' private life at all. But my friends and I did go through a phase when we listened to a lot of that 50s/60s pop, like Mathis and Doris Day.

Electromagnetic candy! - Stark

...I didn't know Mr. Mathis played for our (MY!) team.

But then, I'm so far out of the gay "mainstream" I live on Mars. The club that Jilli and I dance at is in the basement of the largest gay disco in Seattle. I've been going there for 20 years. I never knew there was a basement until the Vogue moved there.
