"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The absence of shrimp amuses me, because my ex-ex-employer's Christmas party, which was held in the cafeteria at the end of a work day, traditionally included a big bowl of shrimp, and whenever we had a financial crisis, there was widespread speculation about whether the shrimp would be there.

Am bored. Am cold. Am feeling like I am forgetting things I need to get for Christmas.

The status is NOT quo.

Apparently our school was going to cancel the holiday party and one of the more affluent Hollywood parents decided to underwrite it for us. Ironically, this will be the ritziest party we've had and is costing him, in the words of the head of school, "More than either of my weddings." It's tomorrow night at Sunset Studios, and I'm looking bemusedly forward to it.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I don't think there's an official holiday party here. The administrative person for our group is having a get-together at her house next weekend.

Tonight I am making cheesecake because we are having a party tomorrow to celebrate G's birthday.

Well since I'm bored and trapped in a waiting room, I wrote out all the Christmas gifts. Unless I am forgetting something, looks like I am short on my dad and grandmother. The book I want to get him to finish it off is 2-4 weeks for shipping unless I find another source. I think I will get her flowers delivered from a local florit for a few months.

So I think I might be really done. If I can just manage to get the cookies made this week.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I haven't bought or knitted a single Xmas present.

I had planned to knit 2 big presents maybe 3, but only managed 1 and a few really small things. I think I will start on what should have been #2 soon though, so maybe for the next gift opportunity for the person, which is in spring. #3 I never even found a pattern for.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I just finished a sock, but it was with really superhuman knitting efforts (I knit from 2:00 yesterday afternoon until 8:00 pm, and then from 4:00 am - 8:00 am, and more on the bus on the way to the party! Now she has tried on the sock and I have to knit another one!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

whenever we had a financial crisis, there was widespread speculation about whether the shrimp would be there.

I bet you could peg xmas retail sales directly to the amount of shrimp served during the holidays.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We didn't have anything taken out of our bank account but it will take them two weeks to get us new debit cards. TWO WEEKS. That's AFTER Christmas. *headdesk*

I think I'm going to try Aims' hat & scarf for a gift for my sister.
