Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

And I didn't realize it until I found myself thinking "why aren't we all nattering about the incredibly adorable wee Aussie twink in the diving?",

Wasn't he? I was totally gobsmacked. Unbelievable achievement. Seriously. We pick up the odd few medals in the pool, but not for jumping into it.

There are no pan asian supermarkets down in hell, so you can't buy Golden Boy peanuts.

I don't know what the US coverage is like, but the Australian news just showed the adorable twinky diver celebrating with his partner including the hugging in the stands. I can't remember how to do Paul Gross Arms here, so just imagine that the rest of this post is made up of them.

Plei, the lesbian german fencer is cute and all, but how about the belgian high jumper who jumps with her GLASSES ON? How cute is SHE??

They just showed her at the closing ceremonies still wearing her glasses.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Almost makes me wish I was watching the Olympics, but then I'd have to listen to the announcing and so on, so not.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy belated birthday, Frances!

And oh, that was a glimpse of Nilly. I really hope to catch you on the phone sometime soon.

Yesterday was Mom's birthday, and also, a day I spent 8 hours on a car/bus. In a country where it takes 6 hours to get from the very far North to the very far South, mind you.

Banana bread

sarameg, please adopt me.

Arrrg, why does it have to be Sunday today?

“Not dead yet!”

Bolt annoyed me, but at least he won, unlike the Brit dude. His excuse was that he'd never found himself in first-- my coaches back in the day wouldn't have ever taken that as an excuse. They would've been all, "Act like you belong. Always act like you belong."

Carl Lewis as Tyra Banks back in the day *snerk*

GG, I'm going to be pulling for your babydyke diver-- if she does make it to London, she'll have a huge cheering contingent of invisible fans.

It's 9:05 in the morning and Jasmine and Pisces are going the Doggyapolis 500 through the house. It's too early for this nonsense.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

They just showed her at the closing ceremonies still wearing her glasses.

??? The closing ceremonies aren't until tonight -- oh, right.

Arrrg, why does it have to be Sunday today?

??? There's still one more day of weekend -- oh, right.

The British presentation was kind of lame until they dcided Led Zepplin makes everything cooler.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Plei, I'm all a-blush now, but I have to agree with meara on the total adorability of glasses woman.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Alibelle, thank you so much for the compliment. It's students like my babydyke diver that are the reason I try to tolerate staying at that evil, abusive, micromanaging, pit-of-despair school.

meara...thanks for the advice. I'll guide the babydyke diver as much as I can and pass on your information.

Barb...thanks for the encouragement for babydyke diver, too. I'll let her know about the people cheering her on and that are waiting to see her in 2012.
