Today, packing, laundry, printing, and examining the Dragon*Con pocket program.

Tomorrow, Empires concert, packing, and last-minute laundry.

Sunday, airport, rental car, and trying not to get lost on the way to my hotel.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

It's gotten really dark here in the past few minutes. Now the wind's picked up--I think we're going to get rain. (It's even darker further north, towards the Wisconsin/Illinois line.)

Just checked the radar. It's a small cell right over us, heading rapidly northeast for the lake.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

If you are going to send emails making it clear that you think I'm stupid for not having already done something, perhaps it would behoove you to actually read your incoming emails first, just on the off chance that I have already done that exact thing.

I dunno. Isn't the failure to do so actually kind of awesome, in that it places Associate's colossal asshood front and center, beyond even the most strenuous efforts at handwavey self-justifying denial?

ION, 2/3 of my office is gone today and I have been beavering away like a mad thing, with nobody to see or appreciate any of it (and I can almost guarantee that I'll get bitched out next week over some damn part of somebody else's job that I missed). I really want to come down with a case of raging (checks clock) 6-hour flu.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

and trying not to get lost on the way to my hotel.

Call me if you do, but it's easy-peasy.

hahahahahaha. Sparky, Vortex, wanna chime in on this one?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Oh, the 6-hour flu sounds goooooooooooooooooood.

I kept refreshing for Olympics news. Now that the men's 4 x 100 is over and done with, and the right and proper team has the gold, I think I'm done.

You know, I'm totally over-invested in how a country I've never been to is doing at these games. But my Aunt's from there! And ita! So there's a connection! Honest!

Oh, thank god. Because I have got plenty of other things to worry about during this trip.

I should make lunch.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

When I was in first grade, the teacher thought I was learning disabled because I didn't do any of my work. But actually, there was a girl who sat next to me who annoyed me so much I could not work, and when we were separated I turned my work all in the next day.

That is how I feel about my work nemesis. The very sound of her shoes thwapping makes me unable to concentrate on anything except how annoying she is to me. There are actual things that she does that are annoying, but at this point, it is getting a little silly for me.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Here's a second on Louganis as favoritest Olympian. Grace under pressure and all that.

I could really stand to get a haircut. Somebody want to make an appointment for me?

Librarian Warlord

Sparky, Vortex, wanna chime in on this one?

Poor JZ, under the impression that Associates have any a) self awareness, b) accountability to the librarians.

Dear ASS-sociate,

Have you been reading Above the Law lately about all the layoffs and how the firms are going to need to get rid of people like you?

Signed, Hope You Get Canned

Grammar Vigilantes Get Probation:

[link]

Two self-styled vigilantes against typos who defaced a more than 60-year-old, hand-painted sign at Grand Canyon National Park were sentenced to probation and banned from national parks for a year...

...The fiberboard sign has yellow lettering with a black background. Deck wrote that they used a marker to cover an erroneous apostrophe, put the apostrophe in its proper place with white-out and added a comma.

The misspelled word ''emense'' was not fixed, Deck wrote, because ''I was reluctant to disfigure the sign any further. ... Still, I think I shall be haunted by that perversity, emense, in my train-whistle-blighted dreams tonight.''

The story concludes:

The TEAL Web site now has only this message -- ''Statement on the signage of our National Parks and public lands to come'' -- without a period.
