I am going on the records as being against sparkle in sports.
I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion.
THANK YOU. I was going to have to post it if no one else did.
(Funny thing is, I hate that movie. But I can't not say that quote.)
EMILY! YAYS!
I have my last class tonight! I am excited, and verra tired.
ita - if you're here: Koji Murofushi.
Ooh, thanks! Bandaged hands make me all weak.
Parents in town. Lots of yelling this morning. My father was all
in denial about Usain Bolt,
who's my new sekrit boyfriend (he's a more playah version of Daley Thompson--I can't help myself) and
his two medal two world record performance. At least he ran a whole race this time, instead of pulling up to chest thump before the finish line and still getting the record and the gold.
I can't wait for either of the 4x100s. Even if we don't win they should be exciting.
ita, I approve of your sekrit boyfriend
he's making me all excited about sprinting for the first time in ages! And here I thought I'd stopped caring...
PMM, he's just so HAPPY. And nonchalant. Apparently when he trains they don't tell him his times (which are good, natch), because he won't do more than it takes to win. And he defends his decision to not go all out in the 100, since he said he was in it for the gold, not the record, because the record will get broken sometime, but no one can take the gold away from him ever. And it's not like he didn't get the record anyway. Who needs a faster one?
Wow! Uh...hi! Sorry, folks, I'm off with the dreaded teaching, but I promise I'll come back later. Missed you!
I like Bolt. Why rub it in everyone's face that he could have beaten the world record even more? Some commentator was saying he cheated the fans by not "smashing" the record. He was already worlds away better than everyone else.
Missed you, too, Emily! Give 'em hell!
ita, I totally know! I love that he's nonchalant about it. It makes his competition a whole 'nother level of awesome, and it's probably healthier for him in the long run.
And he is beautiful on the track, I tell you what.
See, this is where being as competitive as I am is not necessarily a good thing. He's driving me nuts, not going all out, because it seems like it's disrespect for his competitors.
But I've been told I'm too competitive for my own good, so that's probably my own issues speaking out there.
I love him. I thought his reaction in the 100 was legitimate and heartfelt man-glee. He's a freak with a training diet of Mc Nuggets. He's a force of nature. He should enjoy this as much as possible.
Hubby thinks he started celebrating because he thought he was already over the line.
