A year and a half ago, I could have eviscerated him with my thoughts. Now I can barely hurt his feelings. Things used to be so much simpler.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Actually, in further analyzing my Olympics obsession, the only sports I have zero interest in are the ones that I can see all the time that I have no interest in, like basketball and baseball. And then I have little to no interest in the ones that basically do nothing different for a long time, like the long distance running and cycling.

Yes!

I get very bored with qualifying heats if it isn't a sprint. WIth long events, I'm very happy that I can make my DVR go fast and watch them in quick time.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Can I also talk about how cool pole vaulters are? How they are my athletic ideal.... you have to be good at lots of different body areas to be a pole vaulter. And insane.

So, with fall-breaking... do you sort of half-catch and fall with them?

Is it that the element is particularly tricky and they're ready to break a fall?

this. you'll notice they only come out when it's a tricky release skill.

And in trampoline, why does the coach (I guess) stand at the side with a big mat?

i'm no trampoline expert, but i would assume that it would be to break the gymnasts fall if she started coming in that direction.

I thought that at first, but what about the other direction?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

It is a good thing I am not a coach, because I would be running in there to breqak everyones fall! I do the mom hand out on the passenger seat when I stop short, and I am not even a mom, nor do I normally have passengers!!

Back in the 70s there was a show called Superstars where athletes from different sports competed against each other (you couldn't do anything in your own sport). And the pole vaulters were almost invariably the best all around athletes with amazing coordination, speed and strength.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Ouch.

So, why are there different tie-breaker methods for men's and women's gymnastics?
