On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I like sprinting! It fulfills my desire to sit down, watch something happen, and see who won, all in a short period of time.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

ita, I'm sending you all the job-fu in the world!

I've watched some of the sprinting because I've caught a fair amount of track in the past two days.

Kayaking ahoy today! Let's see if we can survive N being a pill about it?

Art Crawl!!!

I like the sprinting!

When are the relays?

I hear that there was a horrible accident in weightlifting that I am very glad I saw.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Me, too! Sprinting is awesome!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Re: sprinting we rock! Did you see how much Jamaica rocks? I hope it continues.

Okay--laundry hung, frumpy dress on, just about ready to conquer a new week.

I'm sending you all the job-fu in the world!

Thank you so much. This will take some sweet-talking on my side, but it's a goodgreat company, looks like good pay, and it's pretty local (not as local as the current one, but short of working at home that's not very possible).

Art Crawl!!!

Darn it. The NBC Olympics front page spoiled me for Gymnastics finals.

Annoying.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I have realized I like the things that are quick for this very reason -- a race, a routine, a dive, whatever. Looked good! Oh no! Whatever.

I'm like that, too. And I love getting glimpses of sports I know nothing about. Last night I watched Men's Hammer and Women's Steeplechase. Bizarre and delightful.

The sprinting qualifying rounds (they're probably called something else) were annoying me because the runners were starting to pull up before they'd actually crossed the finish line.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

“All the while I was out, I kept looking at the watch and listening for my phone,” she said. “He called me four times in an hour: ‘When are you coming home? Where are you? Are you on line yet? Did you leave the store yet?’ It made me so nervous, I just browsed and left.”

Crazy. I was babysitting for a hemophiliac at that age. I can't imagine thinking I couldn't leave my 10-year-old niece alone to go to the store.

hip deep in pie

I babysat for other people's kids, including babies, by 12. What where they thinking? I look at 12 year olds now and wonder how they'd handle my kids. I've never hired a sitter under 16!

So did I. Well 13. Of course, I realize that the couple I babysat for when I was 13 were only ten years older than me. And yet they owned a house, had jobs and a baby. How grown up for 23.

I have realized I like the things that are quick for this very reason -- a race, a routine, a dive, whatever. Looked good! Oh no! Whatever.

I also like how everyone is an instant expert in sports they only see every four years.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee, Sue, totally. All these fervently held opinions that we acquired about ten minutes ago.

re: sprinting: You totally rock! The men's was one of most amazing things we'd seen. And the women's! It was great.
