Natter 60: Gone In 60 Seconds

Total Olympics dork here, too. I'm kinda bummed I'm stuck in tech right now, and unable to watch stuff. I watched badminton prelims earlier in the week, and was very amused that I was enjoying it.
Also, I love the kayaking. I used to go white water rafting, so it's a sport I've actually (sort of) participated in. I went on a ten person raft, and never a kayak, but I'd love to try kayaking some time.
Another Olympics dork, although I'm more of a winter girl, than summer. Doesn't stop me from dragging the laptop back to my room and watching every damned thing in the evenings.
no olympics here. If I turned them on I would be enthralled, but there just seems to be other stuff to do. Like nailing in floor boards.
so, I am reaching that start to freak out place. I was supposed to call when I got home. I did. that was over 2 hours ago. no one answered and still no one answers and no call back. I am shocked at the amount of potential disasters my brain can think of so quickly.
You called where mac is? That would worry me too. Any other way to reach them?
yeah, I called both of my parents' cell phones.
as soon as I posted that last message the phone rang. all is well, they had a old timey railroad ride, ice cream, puzzles, ball game outside, webkinz, and batman episodes on dvd. pretty awesome day for mac.
tptb can strop laughing now at my quickly to flail brain.
glad they checked in and had a great time!
My father's mother had a similar freakout the other day, apparently -- I guess she called when they were on their way to a (routine) doctor's appointment, and then they weren't home, and etc., etc. Of course she didn't call my father's cell phone, which he would have answered.
I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know that it ever goes away.
Also, Kat, that restaurant looks terrifying.
You can get your revenge in 40-50 years, msbelle.
I spent a non-trivial amount of time outside of my dad's apartment building this Saturday, alternating between ringing his apartment's comm bell, calling his phone, and wondering how long I should wait before calling 911. The apartment building nosey neighbor (self-described) and troubleshooter eventually got me in, where I found out that my dad had been napping in the back bedroom, where he couldn't hear the phone or comm bell.
He now has a shiny new phone in his bedroom.
