Is there a fire on your side of the hill, Allyson?
The promo for the 11 pm news says there are three fires burning in Griffith Park. I don't know exactly where in the park.

There are printing sounds (in English) behind my back. The Hebrew stuff is still not done yet, but I needed a cheering-up.
Wanna send it for second proof-writing opinion to me? I'd be happy to help anyway I can.
Thanks, sweetie, but I don't think I have the energy anymore.
I'll save your offer for the corrections, OK?

Yay printing sounds! Good printing sounds! Keep making Nilly sane!

Oh, dear. of course. And I'm sorry you're so exhausted.
I can hear the helicopters coming in from Silverlake.
An interesting thing about the medal count. Well, first interesting thing: Australia is third in the total medal count (and fourth in the standard ordering), beaten only by the most populous country in the world and the richest country in the world, none too shabby for a nation of 21 million. Ok, other interesting thing: the Australian men and Australian women have been equally successful in number of medals (14 each) - though most of the golds are from the women (6 from women's swimming, 2 from men's rowing). Likewise, the US men and women are pretty close in total medals (27 and 29 respectively), though here the men dominate the golds (12 and 5; of course, 8 of those 12 have Phelps' name on them).
But France, which is fourth in the total medal take, has won only three medals in the women's events - one silver, two bronze. All their other 19 medals are from the men's events. I don't know why there should be such a disparity, but it's pretty striking.
Huh. At this stage, they've really been weighted to certain sports, so that could affect it, but it'll be interesting to see if that plays out over the course of the games.
French women are too busy eating bon-bons to be athletic? I don't know. Of course, I just had an ice cream cookie sandwich, so I'm feeling like bon-bons are a completely valid lifestyle choice.
Noah and Grace are too, too, too cute. And I love the fox in socks.
I am very tired, for no reason in particular. I did little to nothing today, and it was awesome, but that means I have a lot to do tomorrow. Sadly.
And I'm still loving the Olympics. Though I want more of Shawn and Nastia.
Women's Gymnastics Event finals are tomorrow, right? More Shawn and Nastia.
True. But I want more of them NOW. And I want them both on the Wheaties box, unrelatedly. Nastia is fantastic, but I love Shawn too. She's just adorable. I can actually see how much she just loves gymnastics, and I find it incredibly endearing. But the event finals tomorrow are at 6:00, I think, so unlikely to see them live. And I won't be home until 8:30.
I realize my problems are world-ending.
Pretty much earth shattering, yes.
I'm still missing the Hamm twins.
