I just got back from the grocery store with a view of Griffith and didn't see one. Can't smell it either.
Arguing with my co-author about a couple of word issues.
'Smile Time'
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

My syllabus has been approved.
Yay!
Middle school kids know that the word din means noisy, right?
I didn't know that.
Though, maybe I did, and only right now I don't know that. It makes sense, since I seem to have lost big chunks of my Hebrew, as well - I'm translating the abstract and table-of-contents into Hebrew, and it's like my vocabulary went to sleep and left me all alone here.
[Edit:
to see the vids of them
Can't on this computer. Will have to wait for the home computer.]
In swimming, Michael Phelps climbing up to hug his Mom nearly broke me.
I'm glad swimming's over, maybe they'll stop talking about Phelps now.
I like track and field, nearly every country has someone who can run.
We're transitioning from Swimming and Gymnastics to Track and Field.
I'm sure that there is some other big sport in the 2nd week - but right now I cannot think what it is.
They'll probably do more with the basketball and beach volleyball. There's also the individual apparatus competitions in gymnastics, and some more diving.

Basketball, at least as far as the TV schedule goes.
I'd be happy to not see any more beach volleyball. It gets really very much the same after a while.
Oh, hey, the US men's sabre team is in the gold medal match. Total surprise! (And tomorrow's another weekend day of getting up way too early...)
Isn't basketball almost done?
Diving. . . could be diving.
The individual apparatus gymnastics stuff are done on Monday, no?
K and I were talking about how it seems to me that individual sports get a ton more interest and play than team sports. That might have to do with the amount of time team sports takes (the fact that it is a tournament style elimination) and the fact that a handful of team sports (basketball and baseball in the summer and hockey in the winter) have professional leagues in the US that get a significant amount of television time so those sports seem less pressing to watch.
Oh Nilly, since it's morning here, and I suspect it's the same time in Petah Tikva as well, I wish it all went well and you got everything you had to do. I really do.
Also, Extremely Cute pictures!
Now, for some mearaing, from last to first.
JZ, thanks for those happy other birthday wishes. I'm sure they effected the coolness of my birthday.
Second,
Animals that begin with "n"? Help.
Natters, of course.
And now, bringing you mearaing from the previous Natter, ladies and Gentleman! (I have a Gmail draft for B.org things. From COMM to stuff I wanted to reply on but never got the time. Am not crazy, am I?):
Remember the
The quite-young niece dropped a cell phone into the toilet.story?
In the army, with those hideous pocketless uniform, we (the non-combat girls) did have some sort of back pocket, which ideally will fit for one folded paper or two. Some girls used to stuck their cell phones into those pockets (depending how lean they were, of course - the cell phones, not the girls).
Now, the design of the uniform made sure that almost every time you have used the bathroom and forgot to take your cell from out of your pocket it fell into the toilet. As a result, usually within 6 months from the time of her recruitment, the regular soldier girl knows how to handle wet cell phones.
Never say the army doesn't prepare for dealing with a lot of unforeseeable scenarios.
