Now you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty flowered bonnet, I will end you.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Is it true that one can't buy absinthe in the US? I thought it would make a neat gift for someone, but then there's all this mystery about whether customs can seize it.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Allyson, I think Jilli and also Matt have bought (or know where to buy) absinthe.

Olympics: seeing Phelps' mom at the end of the race, holding up 2 fingers, and then just losing it when she saw the time -- was the cutest thing ever.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Is it true that one can't buy absinthe in the US?

It recently became legal again.

absintheonline.com is what Matt (and I think Jilli) rec'd to me. I know that site has a disclaimer about how it can't ship to certain countries, but shipping to the US is fine.

It is expensive as fuck, though, because they're in the UK. Stupid exchange rate.

And yeah, there have been a couple of brands for sale in the US recently. I've heard mixed reviews, though.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Dara Torres rocks.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Allyson, you can get absinthe at BevMo now. It's legal and widely available in California.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Dara Torres is just fucking magnificient.

No shit. I'm saying that a lot.

I have old-school-illegal absinthe I got in Prague and smuggled back in. Or rather, put in my luggage.

So. I just started paying the difference in pre-school tuition for a friend who can't afford that difference. I've always been uncomfy with money and friends/family and that is raising all that, and I've had to give her money before as a "loan" I know will not be repaid, and I knew it at the time. But. But. It's the only option. So I do it. At worst, it is a couple K a year that I can plead out of if it becomes a breaker for me. At best, I'm giving a little girl an opportunity she'd not otherwise have. So.
