"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Christ, I'm older than Heath Ledger?

That was my first thought as well. Jesus.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

One of my students got a text message at the end of rehearsal about Heath Ledger. It took the energy right out of what we were doing. The kids and I were really bothered by the whole thing. I kept thinking about Michelle and Matilda.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

G_G, what are you rehearsing right now?

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

15 Reasons Not to Be in A Play. It's a one act for competition next week from playscripts.com. Somehow the show has grown to include 19 sound cues, 22 lighting cues, 15 students on stage, 6 students on tech, 15 18x18 stage boxes, 5 36x18 stage boxes, an unusual assortment of props and dyed to match t-shirts and socks. If the judges don't like it...screw them.

After districts I'll be casting George Washington Slept Here for the Spring.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, I did remember to call, and I do have to go to jury duty tomorrow. Greeeaaaat. At least it's not the furthest location (there are three possibles, one of which is close to home for me). But I have to be there at 8:30! Argh.

Yeah, I have to be there at 8:15 . It's kinda a bitch.

A couple thought-provoking articles/links: Is there anything wrong with looking? (not what you'd think, pervs. And its accompanying site: [link]

And a play whose origins are warm like the actions of the woman it is about, Life in a Jar: (I'd heard of it on the radio some time ago, but there was an article in the monitor today.) [link]

The status is NOT quo.

So sad to hear about Heath Ledger. Talented young actor who had only begun to hit his stride. Sigh.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I just heard about Heath Ledger from my designer (we were in fitting isolation all day, and he just turned the radio on). I am, like others here, weirdly floored and surprised and sad. I am not sure if it was how much I liked him in movies, how much I like Michelle Williams and feel for her and baby, how young he was, or what, but I am very sad.

Also, I have the perfume problem. I brought it up to my boss when our big boss decided she wanted to pump perfume throughout the offices as a marketing technique. I was like, um, no! This never came to fruition, but it made people aware of my sensitivity without me having to make a big deal out of something like dryer sheets, so I was lucky. There was a cleaning woman who could make me sneeze and swell up just by walking in the building, but she left before I could say anything.
