Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I finally sent off a sample chapter to my agent. I didn't even send it for beta, it's so crappy.

Now I hunker down to wait. It's painful, yo.

It's cracking me up that several of the songs from Enchanted were nominated. They're supposed to be parodies!

Oh, I loved "Enchanted". Enough to throw some large paragraphs at it, even, I guess [Edit: if I ever manage to find my way to the movies thread. Hmm].

And part of the charm of the songs was, for me, that while they were parodies, they did actually work "for real" - they laughed at themselves while still being that selves, at the same time. Fun.

Punishingly Intricate

It's got to be a best original song composed for the movie, right? That song wasn't new.

Oh, that's true.

I loved it too! It's just funny to me and, I'm sure, to the song writers! (Hi, Nilly!!! I was had dinner with EpicTangent last night and she was saying how sad she was still that she didn't get to meet you when you were here.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Especially since your IRL name is also a name in Hebrew (unlike, say, Frank or Jesse, just to name a couple of the posters above us), I'm glad it was clear who is who.

Jesse isn't a name in Hebrew? What's the name of David's father in Hebrew? (It's Jesse in English.)

It's so weird for me to hear that people actually think, let alone *talk*, about me when I'm not there.

But, regardless of that, I'm sorry myself I didn't get to meet so many people when I got to be in the USA, and I definitely plan on correcting that when I'm there again (notice the lack of "if" in that sentence, please).

David's father's name in Hebrew is pronounced "yishay". If you write it in Hebrew letters, they aren't the ones you use in order to write the name "Jesse". In the name "David", for example, you pronounce the name differently in Hebrew than in English (the "a" is like in "aragorn", for example, not like in, um, say, "say"). You can write it down in Hebrew letters to let the reader know that you pronounce it the English way rather than the Hebrew way (the spelling would change a bit), but still, it's just adding a couple of letters, not a whole differently-written name.

[Edit: I don't seem to be able to write a post without editing it today.]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yay, "Falling Slowly" from Once was nominated.

I'm thrilled about this, but also confused because I was sure that being on "The Swell Season" would disqualify it. But mostly YAY for Glen and Marketa, because they are awesome and totally deserve it.

I think they're the main reason I hope the WGA settles in time for the Oscars this year - it'll probably be their only chance to go ever, you know?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

OMG y'all. Check out what I found in the grocery store last night: [link]

So ghastly and bizarre that I had to buy it of course. I'll let you know if I ever get up the courage to try it out.

So basically, one of my worst work nightmares?

Happened.

And no one noticed, until I got curious about something.

And it is bad.

Like top of the food chain bad.

And we don't know how to fix it.

Except to start by tossing everything and starting over.

It's really, really, really bad.

I feell kind of sick.

(again, not my fault so I shouldn't feel this ill, the fault of something written 12 years ago and not touched since. So it needs to be redone, and should have been on the list of things rewritten 4 years ago, but wasn't. But it is baaad, folks. And I was the messenger. Uhg.)
