Saw Speed Racer today and loved it, but I can see where it might be too much for some people. Particularly if you have a really bad reaction to visual overload.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I've not seen the source material. I suspect I probably would of enjoyed it if I had, but in terms of a stand alone movie it was a complete mess.
I've just been looking at the reviews - my favourite line so far: "There's something here for everyone to dislike - the whole clan can have fun making fun of this thing". Hee!
I never expect much from movies made from comic books, but I enjoyed Iron Man.
Speed Racer next weekend, maybe. I have fond memories of watching the show with my friends after school when I was eight.
Really like Ironman. Downey's performance was INCREDIBLE. I also like Bridges a lot. I didn't even recognize him until he started talking.
Neither did I, Scrappy. The inverted hair worked wonders.
Speed Racer bombed this weekend, making only $20 million. It may just eke out a #2 finish.
Still, more than Serenity.
Iron Man was expected to be #1 two weekends in a row.
Speed Racer was my first cartoon crush but there are so many movies I want to watch right now that I probably won't catch it before it's gone.
Everybody that would go see Iron Man with me has already seen it (I ended up having to work rather than playing hooky).
Poo.
I'm guessing that Iron Man is a little much for a 3-year-old in a movie theater, huh?
It might be, Raq.
I had to un-recommend it to a co-worker who has two children whose daddy just came back from Iraq. I didn't tell her outright not to take them, but a quick description of certain scenes caused her to slot it into "wait for DVD" territory.
D came home from Iron Man and announced he needs to see it at least two more times.
