Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Yeah, but you'll be at the movie theatre.
Or you could go to a giant multiplex - watch the HPB teaser and then sneak into another movie.
If they do it chronologically, it's Magician's Nephew, TLTWATW, The Horse and His Boy, then Prince Caspian, Dawn Treader, Silver Chair, and Last Battle.
Now that you mention it, I believe that is the order. It'd been so long since I read the series that when Aims' sister gave me a new boxed set the only re-ordering I noticed was putting The Magician's Nephew at the front.

Yeah, but you'll be at the movie theatre.
Which is why I'm pointing at the books now.
I can't remember, Aims...did we watch TLTWATW on cable together, or was it just me and Da Punk?
Just you and Da Punk.
Iron Man did > 100 mil in the weekend box office receipts. [link] Not shabby!
Maaaan, I really wish the success of the film would keep Downey Jr. clean for good this time. There were a few years there when I was wondering whether we'd hear that he'd OD'd on some crazy drug cocktail or got run over by a bus while walking naked and high on the freeway or something.
I know the article about "Stop Trying to Kill RDJ" mentioned that Tony Stark is quite the alcoholic.
There's a part of me that hoping/believing that Jon Favreau was able to direct RDJ in such a way as to bring out the performance he needed without pushing RDJ to that addict place in his brain.
And they're saving the alcoholism for the sequel, so it's going to be worse in the next movie.
And they're saving the alcoholism for the sequel, so it's going to be worse in the next movie.
Maybe they'll cover that fun part of his life when he was homeless b/c of the alcoholism.
(One of my favorite reviews of Iron Man said that, given how much Tony Stark drinks throughout the movie, they expected the Iron Man suit to come with retractable cupholders.)
I'm hoping Favreau will direct the next movie, too. If there's any director in Hollywood who could *maybe* direct RDJ into a ragin alcoholic place without pushing RDJ into actual alcoholism, Favreau would probably be that guy.
Everything I've heard about Favreau is that he's a really nice, caring guy, who cares about his cast and crew, and would not to see anyone hurt.

I don't think there's any question of that.
