Saw harold and Kumar last night and, aside from NPH, thought is was really unfunny and lame. I love Kal Penn and he and John Cho have a lot of charm, but maybe one or two laughs at most for me.
Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I saw Iron Man. It was good. Post-credits scene was awesometastic.
This movie isn't quite one for the ages as far as superhero movies, but I loved Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man SO MUCH! Loved all the geeky mechanical/computer stuff to make the Iron Man suit.
Gwyneth was okay, Terrence Howard looked like he was out to lunch a few times. Jeff Bridges was fine as well, until the mustache-twirling at the end.
I don't know how anyone else ranks this among comic book/super hero movies, but it was the first one I have really enjoyed in awhile. I do like the Christian Bale Batman, but I thought Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst were miscast in the Spiderman movies. I liked Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ian McKellan as Magneto, but could have done without most of the rest of the X-men. I haven't actually watched either of the Fantastic Four movies.
I LOVED Iron Man. i know nothing of the comic books though. so i can't comment on any of that. i'm also not really sure who/what Nick Fury/Avenger Initiative is. so there's that. anyone care to elaborate?
I think my mom and i are going to go see it again. it's playing on a "giant screen" at the local theatre and i'm curious as to what that entails.
anyone care to elaborate?
tiggy, Nick Fury, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., runs S.H.I.E.L.D. The "Avenger Initiative" is a reference to the Avengers, which is a Marvel superhero team that includes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk, among others. A movie is in the pipeline, but first they have to get those other three movies out to establish the characters.
New trailer for The Dark Knight: [link]
Two words: FUCK YEAH.
t edit I didn't get to see Iron Man this weekend because of this stupid cold, so I'm ignoring all of you who already saw it. (You all suck.)
We do suck. Especially when the Dark Knight trailer was attached to Iron Man.
thanks, P-C. i'd heard his name before, but not being into comics themselves i didn't know the history.
the Dark Knight trailer was attached to Iron Man
really? damn. i was a little bit late and when we walked in The Hulk trailer was on. we saw The Hulk, Indiana Jones and The Happening. all of which i wouldn't mind seeing. i'm one of few who has enjoyed all of M. Night's movies.
