Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

that would be a link to a long and brightly-colored trailer for Speed Racer.
My jury is still out, but it looks better than I expected.
The latest trailer I saw last night during NBC comedy night was the first one that made me go, "Whoa...that may actually be kind of awesome." There were cars going through each other!
I'm watching Underworld on Blu-ray. It says "extended version, uncut." Was there that much added? God, it's so pretty in high def but I never would have guessed that Kate Beckinsale had pores.
It took me about six months after getting an HDTV that I stopped paying attention to the pores.

I've seen the Speed Racer trailers twice in movie theaters and they are FREAKIN' AWESOME! Total sensory overload. Like injecting Tokyo directly into your eyeballs. They specifically worked to create a comic-like depth of field so that things in the background are incredibly crisp.
Also, Christina Ricci has a supercool bob.

Every time Emmett and I stop to watch the Blu-Ray exhibit at Virgin Megastore we become hyp-mo-tized by the almost hallucinatory clarity.
Then we come home and watch our crap TV and baseball games look like a Monet.
Who was the actress who played Morticia Addams in the TV series? Ricci looks just liker her in that photo.
Carolyn Jones. They do have similar foreheads.
My mind kept going to Caroline Keene, but that was the psuedonym of the person who wrote the Nancy Drew stories. Thanks, Bev!
