If she remains true to him, after ten years he is free.
But wasn't that unclear from the movie? I feel like it was mentioned somewhere as a line that was cut. And then everyone went, "OH! That makes much more sense! Why'd they cut that part?"
Of course, my icebox question is ...when was the kid conceived?
Really? I missed that somehow
I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the movie.
It's halfway made clear in the bit after the credits. So I'm told, I never saw it.

Right before Will had to leave on the Dutchman.
I guess it's not very clear. I'm pretty sure it comes up in the reconciliation conversation between the Dutchman and Calypso where she says it is her nature to be sexayy as she's sort of an elemental and consequently her infidelity was to be expected.
Really? I missed that somehow
Yeah, I missed that too, and don't think it was made very clear in the end bit after the credits.
Also, if that is the case, then who takes over the Flying Dutchman? Because part of the job is to ferry/shepard the dead to the other side, right?
Right before Will had to leave on the Dutchman.
Ooooh, right. I had to go look at a summary; I'd forgotten that scene.
Though I'm kind of disappointed; I was hoping there was something scandalous going on.

I think it's a Dread Pirate Roberts type gig where you pass it on. I suppose there are always some folks willing to make that trade.
Fucking ridiculous. It's a heavy special effects movie, so you have to sit through about 8 minutes of bullshit, waiting to pee, to see a substantial piece of the narrative? I can't recall if I waited to the end of Pirates or not, but I rarely do it anymore. It's NEVER WORTH IT.
I always wait to leave until after the credits. Sometimes there's a little sump'n sump'n, sometimes not. My fave might be Matthew Broderick at the end of Ferris Bueller, coming out in a robe and peering out at the audience and saying "Why are you still here? Go home!"
We watched
Hud
the other night - it was really excellent. I especially liked Lonnie (Brandon de Wilde, who also played the little boy in
Shane).
I went to imdb to see what else he'd done and saw that he died at 30 in a car crash. Sad.
