If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So it turns out Ghost Rider really is bad. (I didn't think Daredevil was that bad.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Had you ever heard anyone talk about it as being good? I mean, I just went for the visual of Nic Cage screaming and bursting into flames...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just went for the visual of Nic Cage screaming and bursting into flames...

My brother.

At least I think the Daredevil guys might have been trying to make a fun cool movie, despite the results. Not so sure about the Ghost Rider cast and crew.

No, no one said it was good, but no one said Daredevil or Fantastic Four was good either, and I thought they were fine.

Not so sure about the Ghost Rider cast and crew.

I think they were, though! Mark Steven Johnson reportedly put up his own money to fund an action sequence he wanted, and Nicolas Cage has a Ghost Rider tattoo (and apparently wrote parts of the script).

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I liked the first Fantastic 4 but I thought the second one was pretty lame. I really didn't like Daredevil but then I saw the directors cut and loved it (basically the theatrical release cut the heart out of the movie). I still want to see Ghost Rider. But it's not real high up on my list.

Always Anti-fascist!

Catch and Release: decent rental(Yay! Kevin Smith.) Timothy Olyphant in eyeliner: seriously foamy...Ooh, Mr. Bullock. If he'd show up, I'd stop avoiding funerals.

Compassionately intolerant

I liked it too erika. The notion of Kevin Smith writing for celestial seasonings boxes cracked me up.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

The kids and I went out and tried to see a movie but there wasn't a thing playing that the three of us wanted to see enough to pay for. Pretty sad.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Last night we went to see the 2007 short animated film Oscar nominees. Not as good as previous years, but there was a gorgeous Russian film and a Canadian Film Board (love them) short which was amazingly animated and had a very Buffista feel: [link]

I thought the script was a little muddled, but it was breathtaking nonetheless.

The evil is this way?

I saw "Spiderwick Chronicles". It was pretty good but felt too rushed. The running time was about 1 1/2 hours, and it probably could have used another 10-15 minutes at least to develop the characters and the story. *** For example, the family moves into a new home (at night) and the very first night Jared encounters the brownie and finds the Field Guide. Really, couldn't they have had a few odd things happen over the course of a few days before he finds the field guide? Couldn't they have show some of the wonder of the magical world? Seems a pretty gruesome place. Also, Freddie Highmore seemed to be struggling to get an American accent down. It made things feel off with his characters. ***
