Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

HMOG those Librarian movies are pure cheesy goodness. Even the music is made of cheese. And BadAss!BobNewhart! I swooned.

TWoP's recap of the first one is definitely worth reading. The recapper is really exasperated with all the cliches and cheese for about the first half of the movie, and then she starts to get into it. Finally, by the big finale at the museum pyramid, she's saying, "OK, if Bob Newhart starts to kick ass, I'm giving this thing an A+." Guess what grade it ended up with?

Just watched Eastern Promises. That's a movie that's going to stick with me for a while, I think.

I just watched it too. Creepy. But amazing acting.

Punishingly Intricate

I have Eastern Promises at home right now. But haven't had a chance to watch it.

Next up in the Oscar blitz is 3:10 to Yuma.

Still haven't managed to screw up the courage to see No Country for Old Men, but otherwise I've see all the Best Picture/Directing noms.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I just got Very Annie Mary from Netflix last night, but I'm thinking of waiting to watch it until just before Sunday's episode of Brothers & Sisters to maximize the cognitive dissonance.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

until just before Sunday's episode of Brothers & Sisters to maximize the cognitive dissonance.

Reason #4427 why I love Buffistas - most people try to minimize their cognitive dissonance.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I've seen Juno several times now. I think it's possibly my favourite movie. Ever. Of course, not THE BEST MOVIE EVER, but my own favourite.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hey, Kevin, did you get an e-mail from me? About helping a friend with her paper on viral marketing?

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Oh yes, I just emailed you about that. I got to talk about the FANTASTIC viral marketing Sega did, where they trolled themselves online. Successfully.
