I am the uptightest ever on this front. I type every damned word out in a text, ignoring the character limit and my aching thumbs. I am more likely to write "ASAP" on the web and "as soon as possible" in a text message. Oh, and everything is properly capitalised too.
It's possible the chip on my shoulder is somehow also up my butt.
He is (was?) a nice guy otherwise I'd have brushed him off hard a while back, but I do feel genuinely unable to make friends out of acquaintances right now (although existing friends might appreciate me spreading the load a bit...) and was faced with that wall, not knowing how to get past it.

My mom sent me some of my favorite mexican pottery from a store in Mesilla . They are like little sake cups or something and have butterflies painted in the bowl and birds around. LOVE. This pottery/dish design is just gorgeous. The larger stuff has all kinds of delicate, elaborate birds in blues and greens. ( Oh, here's some of it : [link] Each piece is different. I go to the store and sort through, picking my favorites, which usually feature just one stylized bird or whatever. It's gonna take me forever to amass any amount of it. )
Also got a cool little cuadrito (they are teeny little detailed prints made from copper etchings, hand painted and enclosed in glass, aluminum with a brass frame), a purple guatemalan chicken potholder, pale yellow glass and grey pearl earrings and a cd with artists I've heard of and liked and I can't wait to listen to it.

It is today. I'm lowkey about birthdays. I couldn't figure out why R called me at work this morning until she burst into song (I thought something might be wrong with one of the kids!!) However, the occasion never fails to let my mom do her awesome gift-giving.
