Thongs for pre-teens.
I know they are sexy, but I just think of them as a way to avoid VPL. So I'm always startled when people think they're inappropriate for kids.
I never cared about VPL, and I guess it's a more 'adult' concern.
I wish it weren't, though. We go to such lengths (in theory) to pretend we're not wearing undies.
eta: Steph, yeah, that was a particularly distressing slant to the results of my image search.
And yet, I wax from time to time. Does this make me a hypocrite?
It only makes you a hypocrite if you did it in spite of a horrible infection that resulted from a previous wax.
Actually, that wouldn't make you a hypocrite, just crazy.
Otherwise, no, it doesn't make you a hypocrite. Just well-groomed.
Butt writing on pre-teens bugs me.
In the Wikipedia Teratoma article:
Use in basic research
In light of the ethical issues surrounding the source of human stem cells, teratomas are being looked at as an alternative source for research since they lack the potential to grow into functional human beings.
That's pretty cool!
I think that the difference is that I make that choice without expecting others to make it too and without thinking I am "dirty" if I don't. Plus? I think hairy boy parts deserve a chance for waxing too. Dammit.
And yet, I wax from time to time. Does this make me a hypocrite?
I'd think the full monty wax would lose some of its charm if it were an always thing.
I'd think the full monty wax would lose some of its charm if it were an always thing.
The people I know that do it consider it just that.
Plus? I think hairy boy parts deserve a chance for waxing too. Dammit.
Heh. Having had the "I'm NOT shaving my parts!" / "I don't care if you don't, but do you care if I *do*?" conversation, my feeling is that, as long as everyone is happy with the level of hairy- or hairlessness, then rock on.
And then, when caught NOT wearing undies, there's a fuss.
edited not realizing there were going to be a bunch of comments between ita's about the things people do to avoid looking like they're wearing undies.
I think of waxing like a manicure or pedicure...nice if you have a special occasion or it's barefoot season, but otherwise, just file and buff.
Er...currently occupied trying to think of the genital equivalent of filing and buffing, and it's all rather...odd. Like Steph says, warm water daily and a little Ivory oughta be enough.
Ha! Hysterical as I was going to come and ask about waxing this very day (in Bitches, though). I never have but I have a beach trip coming up and am considering it for that (no full on wax, just bikini line). Those what have waxed, how long does it last? Do you still have to do any sort of razor maintenance?
