People keep saying "Please! OPen a franchise here!" and In-N-Out keeps saying, "Nah, we're staying in Cali."
It's family-owned, not franchised, which is likely why they have better quality and fewer out-of-state locations. But I think a death in the family sometime recently may change their expansion plans.
Mm. Free lunch! I have salad and a po' boy and spinach lasagna and a brownie that's bigger than my palm.

And they aren't just in California: also in Arizona and Nevada.

There have been the death of both heirs. I think they are on to grandchildren at this point.
eta
actually, it's the grandchild's husband who is now president; Apparently Esther died last year. [link]
I kinda dig a good Carl's Jr burger. And even thought it's not made of anything particularly dairy, a McDonald's chocolate shake on a hot day really hits the spot in the way real milkshakes don't for me--not that I don't love them.
I haven't had a good shake in donkey's years. Now I'm filled with the crave.
Now I really want to go to the Shake Shack. But I'm not going to, because it's still lunch time there, so long lines, and what I really need to do with my free afternoon is go to the stupid post office. I hate going to the stupid post office!
Jesse, I have a package to send. Can you please swing by and take it to the post office since you are already going?
Emmett and I go to Foster's Freeze fairly often. They have great shakes, though I think he likes Burgermeister better.
I'll take BK over McD if those are my choices, but In-n-Out reigns.
I can also go over to the Ferry Building and get In-n-Out quality fresh burgers at Taylor's Refresher, and on Farmer's Market days I can get a Prather Meat grilled burger that's insanely tasty (and healthy, since their meat is pure of all hormones and antibiotics).
I used to have a passion for Friendly Ice Cream's coffee Fribbles. yum!
So nobody else has heard of Arctic Circle? They could be local.
There's a wildfire up in the mountains a couple of miles away from us. The tanker planes keep going by over head. At least the wind is keeping the smoke away from our building. If the smoke starts seeping in, I'm going home.
That's the downside of working close to the mountains, in the summer, something's always burning.
