Also, it might not have been the people in the same building who complained--could've been a neighboring building.

Vortex, we certainly would have apologized.

no, I'm saying that you should do it now, after the fact. It might seem like it's too little, too late, but if you can convince them to (or help convince them) to change their mind, it will help that you can say that you've talked to the neighbors.

Also, check your lease, it may have some guidance on your access to the common areas. I mean, that's the point of common, right?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I doubt I'd approach a group of loud possibly drunk folks and ask them to be quiet.

If I knew one of them I'd possibly try talking to him/her, but I'd have to actually know him/her and not in the neighbor-nod way.

(Of course, I AM the recent victim of a vicious baby assault)

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

No, the building manager told me it was two tenants who complained.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm pretty sure anywhere I've ever lived, someone would yell out the window "SHUT THE FUCK UP," and/or call the cops, before going to Management.

Apologize and end it. To everyone, if necessary, but it goes a long way. Unless said complaintent hates everyone and wants to kill joy, and then, well, you know that song and dance. You've dealt with fandom!

I'm drowning in babypics. There was a birthing boom. New nephew, two new first/second (whatever you call the kids of cousins) pix. And good lord, elder son of cousin has his mom's eyes and it is killer. Babies!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

when I've yelled at loud street noise, it was only from a darkened apartment and in a building where there were too many windows to easily tell where it came from.

Ah, my naturally paranoid side.

ION - I just got the 5th cancellation of plans for mac in like a month. And it is not people sucking on all accounts, but he totally does not get that - all he gets is that I said we'd meet friends to do something and now it will just be him and me.

The status is NOT quo.

A really cute, super friendly little adolescent kitty is mewling pathetically outside. I've given him some dry food and water and am attempting to ignore the pathos. He doesn't look especially well-cared for; if I knew for sure he was a stray, I'd take him in. Most likely he's just wandering a little far from home, though--he's way too sweet to be wild.

Byron and Mia were Not Amused at the fact he was on their back porch.

Well, me being me, I would approach them with a smile on my face, "hey, guys, I've got a big day tomorrow, can you keep it down to a dull roar?" Most people don't realize when how loud they're being in those situations. but, I understand that a lot of people don't relish confrontation like I do. That being said, I think that the landlord's response was draconian. You've raised the profile and value of the building with your updates, and he/she will gain from that. You deserve a second chance.

Well, sure. But I also wouldn't have a problem with noise while I was still up and about.

Still, my favorite loud-neighbor response was my father's, after a Saturday night party next door. He just went over the next morning when he was on his way out -- at like 7am or something crazy -- and rang the bell until someone answered, and explained the situation very nicely. To a really tired, really hungover neighbor.
