Hippo Birdies, JZ!
The raven article link was cool, ita!
I'm in PA, will drive back to MA soon, hopefully before my Mom drives me nuts with one more offer of food that I don't want. (Seriously: "Do you feel hungry?" Me: "No, that's OK Mom" Her: "There's oatmeal!" Me: "I'm not at all hungry, really." Her: "We have some nice bananas" And it goes on for another N exchanges, N being the number of different kinds of food things she has around. Sometimes she circles back to the first couple of food items....)
Serial (no, thanks, Mom):
Typo Boy, try asking Fay in the UnAmericans thread, since she lives in Thailand, she should be up on what gift certificates and whatnot would be useful there!
Happy Birthday, JZ!
And ravens - I saw a large black bird (raven? crow?) confronted with a closed styrofoam container with food in it. The bird managed to get the container open (one of those flat ones with compartments for various portions of a meal) and then enjoy the food. Smart bird.

Motorcyclists will often have leather saddle-sacks on their bikes. The saddle-sacks are usually held shut with a belt buckle. Ravens can quickly unbuckle the buckle, and steal the food that's often inside.
also,
Birthday Happies JZ!!!
Now I want to have a motorcycle and load up the saddlebags with food just to see that.
JZ Day! Whoot!
Happy Birthday JZ! And to all the people I have missed over the past few weeks! And Congrats on the book to Allyson! And more kitty`ma to Fred Pete!
I have finally had my junk car towed-- which I have been procrastinating since late April, because I was nervous. Of course it turned out to be easy, free, and not a big deal, although I did almost give myself a heart attak getting the boxes of random stuff out of my car and up three flights of stairs in the sweltering heat.
Happy Birthday, JZ!!!
I'm taking a half-day from work this afternoon (and Friday), so I made sure to get in early (for me) and can now leave before noon. My fitness center changed its summer hours for the pool to Really Sucky For Me (only one evening swim/week that works for my schedule), so I'm going to go for noon swims twice this week and then see if I can get up early and go for morning swims starting next week.
