Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

They're letting people back in now.

Art Crawl!!!

FNL DVD news!

Bad news: it's coming out on the same day as Heroes BUT it's really, really cheap: $29.98 for a 22-episode set.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A whole bunch of pretty and/or bizarre insects: [link]

Lots o' pretty and strange caterpillars. And some mantises (manti?) that look very much like flowers. Some I had to stare at to figure out what part of the bug was where. And there's this cool fact:

Amazing Caterpillar Fact:
Faecal Firing: Some leaf-rolling caterpillars fire faecal pellets from their anuses... be careful out there.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I think it's sort of like sow-DA-jee.

Yep.

Doesn't shrift speak Portuguese?

I used to be fluent, but I haven't spoken it regularly in about six years, which means I've lost most of it.

I believe shrift does speak Portugese, because she lived in Portugal for a while.

Man, Portugal. Lisbon! Tenho saudades tuas.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Pop culture blindspots. Not all belonging to one person. I must admit, I share more than one...and I wouldn't call not having seen Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas that big a deal. Not like not having seen any Star Wars movie.

Yeah, but....I wanted to grab the author who hadn't seen the movie of Fear and Loathing and smack her repeatedly with THE BOOK (which came first). Hello? Not everything was a movie first.

The pop culture blind spot article was fun, except for the guy who's never seen Citizen Kane. Not that there's anything wrong with not having seen it, but if you haven't seen it you don't get to run around calling it the most overrated movie of all time.

Besides, that honor goes to Magnolia.

I have to say, though, that the guy who said that he'd never read a book by any of the big best-selling authors (Tom Clancy, Stephen King, John Grisham, etc.) has NOTHING to be ashamed of.

Link?

And not having seen the article, all I can say is that while I agree with you, it set my back up the way that people getting on their high horse about not watching tv does. Nothing to be ashamed of, but no automatic more-intellectual-than-thou points either. But that's a total knee-jerk on my part, though, probably not at all borne out by the guy or the article. I only mention because I was kind of surprised at the strength of my response.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I just got what I think might be a 5000 word email from Nilly telling me how happy she is that she got my ARC in the mail.

I'd just like to note that it made it to Israel before it made it to me.

Teppy! Happy, um, third-day-of-your-new-age!

[Edit: Allyson! It was *that* long? Um. Sorry.]

Heh. Yep. Those "Kill your television" people bugged me.

Once at a pancake place in San Francisco I found a "Kill Your Television" sticker on the bathroom wall. So I wrote on it, "But TV is our friend!"

Yeah, I was a rebel....

I have never seen The Godfather.

Tim says he's dragging me into his home theater as soon as it's done and going all Clockwork Orange to my eyeballs to make me watch it.
