would someone explain it to this maroon?
It's a corruption of the word "moron".

Classic Bugs Bunny (and other WB cartoons, I believe) also said of foolish people "What a Maroon!" which is where the WFRR? character got his name.

Heh. That's how this conversation got started, with the Bugs ref. As DXM notes, it's a slangy corruption of moron.
I didn't get that joke until I was 20 or 21. I am a dolt.
Also just got the joke now.
And woohoo on the fewer connections.
I quailed at actually calling myself a moron. Plus, maroon funnier. And conversation generating.
Bad natterer. Shutting up now.
Rob, there was nothing that would leak connections there any more than in any of the code.
Are the connections opened, used and closed all in one PHP function?

Opened and closed in one function, used wherever that function is called from.
Wow, such a relief. And thanks to Kristen and Monique for guiding us through this crazy process. It's so helpful to have some real infomation when we're trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. Go you!
Bugs Bunny was also fond of the term imm-BEH-sell (i.e. imbicile).
Just for a celebratory useless post.
sorry, i'll b'good.
Can't say I'm crazy about this idea. Perhaps if the day comes when I am able to monitor resource usage myself, we could try experimenting. But as long as I'm dependent on going through a chain of command to get those numbers, I'd prefer we left well enough alone.
Yeah, especially since the other thing wasn't done. If we WERE to try something like that, we'd want to turn it on or, say, 1 day, and get the numbers for that day. But, I agree, I wouldn't worry about it.
