Giles: Stop that, you two. Riley: He started it... Xander: He called me a bad name! I think it was bad; it might have been Latin.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Kristen, do you know what fixed the problem? Was it getting rid of the random quotes, or adjusting the timeout values?

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Kristen, will this go even lower once the voting on the archiving, combining of of threads etc thing is done, and some of that (presumably) happens?

Nobody

Kristen, do you know what fixed the problem? Was it getting rid of the random quotes, or adjusting the timeout values?

I'm betting it was 1/3 turning off the RQG, 1/3 adjusting our timeout values and more of us using "Read New", and 1/3 is because we were all scared shitless to post, all weekend. Oh, everyone pretended they weren't panicking, but it was so very slow (posting volume) here, this weekend.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

The best way to test this, of course, is to try one at a time. Let's give it a few more days, monitor it for a bit, and then turn on the RCG again, see what happens, if for no other reason than geeky curiosity.

Allright, you, shut up.

Kristen, do you know what fixed the problem? Was it getting rid of the random quotes, or adjusting the timeout values?

We hadn't done the timeout value adjustment yet. Steven was going to talk to his server admin about that and then he came back to me with the 30 number. I think it was losing the quotes that really helped us out. ita putting in the explicit closes helped a bit. But dumping the quotes slashed our usage in half.

will this go even lower once the voting on the archiving, combining of of threads etc thing is done, and some of that (presumably) happens?

Yes. And it's important to note that we're in really good shape now and I would like to keep us there. I think that we can stop worrying but we should continue to try and be smarter about how we use our resources.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Great news, Kristen. Thanks for you work and Monique's, and thanks to our hosts for their patience while we sorted it out.

Kristen, btw, I wanted to email you about something (something good, not bad, and usage-related), but there's no email addy.
