Very convincing. Makes me completely want to put myself under government control. Please take me to where you can make me unconscious and naked.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Well, if doomsday comes, there's always eBay. I'll hit the streets and grab some ink on a bauble or two. It'd grab more cash than Amazon.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

But what we can't provide, as far as I know, are links to independent bookstores and music stores.

For booktores, at least, we can -- www.booksense.com (which is the American Bookseller's Association's online joint marketing thingy) has an affiliate program that sells books through whatever member bookstore is near them. I don't know of anything comparable for music or vids, but there may very well be something.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

What's the size of the source file it pulls from? I was told that a non-SQL solution for a similar volume would be slower, since it's all file reads, whereas the SQL solution would use more RAM caching.

It's just a plain txt file, so it's as big as it needs to be. Dunno if speed would be an issue or not. Check it out here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's not so much a speed issue, as a tapping other resources issue.

Can you e-mail me the code? I am leaning, however to the cronned QotD -- I just have to think it out, and find out what command line options we have with this account.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

My tuppenorth - I think we should make all endeavours to stay with IH. We ain't going to get such good, personal, and funny support as we do from kristen. If we have to ditch quotes, so be it.

What I do is just keep hitting read new at the end of every page I am reading. I don't know if this is better or not.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I never quite understood the value of the message center.

Do you read every single thread? I don't (fanfic for instance). The message center displays only those threads to which you're subscribed. It removes some of the clutter. Using message center won't help the sql resource issue. It might, however, make your experience on the board friendlier.

This is only going to be good for you Deena (in a personal sense) if you only subscribe to the threads you always want to read. If you subscribe to threads you only sometimes read when things are slow, you're going to get in there with the read new function, whether you choose to, or not.
