My corner of Earthlink world has decided to stop propagating buffistas.org. I'm good with www.buffistas.org, but that's been propagated since before. Mail.buffistas.org is new to me, and won't resolve.

Chat support guy told me it was because mail servers are often firewalled. I HATE support folk that know less than I know.

They should be hit over the head with a TCP/IP book.

But he's finally forwarding a ticket on, and if anything useful comes of it, bitterchick, I'll pass the info on.

Jon is correct in what I want, it's actually what I thought we had, but obviously I am mistaken.

Thing is, I know that the bad HTML was stripped, but now the text within the bad HTML is also gone and I don't remember that happening.

Surely it can't be that I never made formatting errors before. Nah.

When you say "within", Elena, do you mean:

t badtag this is going to disappear t /badtag

or t thisbadtagwilldisappear ?

I mean the first. It disappears in the post, but is also gone from the posting box when I try to edit.

How bad is the bad tag?

I couldn't get that to disappear unless I forgot the > off the opening tag. In which case, yeah. But that's always been that way.

Huh... I wonder if that's what I did. Hmmm... I'll experiment and get back to you (sometime after the weekend, I'm on my dinner break right now).

So I guess our server will be getting quite the test run once word gets out about that recent post in FF.

I feel like I should be battening down hatches or something. Assuming I could find some hatches. And knew how to batten them.

Related somewhat to Kristen's post, I had a brainwave last night after Joss posted. Would it be useful at all to do a Joss archive page where we collect his posts (and Tim's too, where they're show relevant)? I was thinking of somekind of flat html page for other sites to link to that didn't make hits on the database. Would this lessen the demand on the servers? We could have a link to the board for those who are interested in becoming "One of Us." My experience with Bronze VIP archive page was that I clicked through to the Bronze maybe once every 30-40 visits to the archive, and most people might be satisfied with jsut seeing what Joss has to say and going again...

I don't know anything about what goes on under the hood of this board, so I don't know if this would be helpful or not...
