If you do you'll get notified of updates. If you don't like the official version you can always remove it and reinstall the one you've got now.

We recently upgraded to MS Office 2010 (and boy, is the learning curve painful). I was asked to insert some charts into a PowerPoint file and send them to someone we work with a lot, but isn't on staff. Well, I did so. About 15 minutes after I sent it off I got a call and this plaintive voice says, "I can't open the file." Luckily, I realized what the problem was - he hadn't upgraded - and was able to send the file saved in the older version.
