Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

Oh, god DAMN. DC's solicits for Justice League: Generation Lost are teasing that Blue Beetle is going to be killed: [link] >[link]

I could list all the reasons why I don't think it'll happen (DC wouldn't kill off another minority/DC wouldn't kill off another teen hero in a brutal fashion/DC wouldn't have Max Lord shoot ANOTHER Blue Beetle), but really, my reaction is just -- god DAMN.

Or it could be a Jossverse thing akin to S5 of Angel (and how Connor was handwaved into a different life), where Max Lord's ability to alter reality (or perception, or whatever it is he does) will mean that Beetle DOES die, but then it's un-done. Which is exactly the kind of cheap plot move I would expect from DC.

My love for the Jamie Reyes iteration of Blue Beetle is massive, and irrational. I really think if DC kills him off, I'm going to have to break up with comics. Seriously.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wonder how John Rogers feels about that.

I've been making flappy hands and aggrieved noises about it for the last 45 minutes. Gah.

(1) Scola, that's the best job listing you've ever posted for me!

(2) I couldn't take the job [because OF COURSE they'd hire me...ha!], because I'd walk around punching people in the head.

(3) I did make flappy hands of glee when I read it, though. That's an actual job opening! Awesome!

That's exactly why you SHOULD take the job.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I think a few selective punches to the head is just what the industry needs.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

They needn't be to the head where Dan DiDio and Joe Quesada are concerned.

More bad news for my wallet: Fantagraphics to publish the complete Carl Barks.
