Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

I wanted to stay in bed. But that's because I'm lazy. But noooo...I had to get up early so I'd have a chance at a parking space and not have to get lost in the far reaches of Kamchatka trying to find the alternate garage.

I should have used my powers for doing good.

I rather think you do, all the time!

Now maybe could I beg of youto do something about the fact that Devi decided I was prey TWICE last night. I think I need to unearth more of her fake mice.

Swouncing

Well, sara, a student just called from the road, saying that there's a big traffic jam and he's going to be late for a lecture which is starting soon. I whined about traffic, and in a few minutes I'll see if it helped him arrive not too late.

Devi decided I was prey TWICE last night

Hmm.

OK, Devi? Here's the thing. Apparently I got today the power of bringing new little people into the world, by whining. Now, new people (though not necessarily little ones) are a perfect instrument for food, toys, pets if you're interested, clean litter boxes, and food. You'd want those, right? So please not to munch on sara.

Thanks, Kat!

I'm supposed to go listen to a lecture now. A lecture! How can I concentrate on any sentence longer than three words that isn't about baby toes or what's-best-to-bring-to-a-new-mommy-when-she-comes-home?

Let's hope that works!

Have purchased plane tickets. Other than an early flight for returning here (but hey, my parents are morning people, they'll survive, ) not too bad.

It was frigid this morning and the wind cut through everything I was wearing like a run in your last pair of pantyhose. It's so cold I think it made parts of my body seize up, which is why I am declaring myself I Groggy McGimp for the day.

I am soothing myself with black coffee and internet-window-shopping at Zappos.

Congrats to your new-baby-friend, Nilly!

Probably more constructive than when I turned to the BF at four this morning and asked "why did you give me the hammers?"

Because he took the knives?

So many fugly boots, oh my god, I'm dying over here.

ETA: Since I'm not allowed to buy, I must mock to make myself feel better.

I don't know, I like some of those boots. But then, I developed my fashion tastes in the '80s.

Thrive to spite them

The second pair look like part of a uniform from a bad sci fi movie.

That's exactly what I was thinking, askye.
