You got all kinds of learnin' and you made me look the fool without tryin', and yet here I am with a gun to your head. That's 'cause I got people with me. People who trust each other, who do for each other, and ain't always lookin' for the advantage.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I just spent half an hour on the phone trying to find something the NY intraoffice mail room lost.

That was fun.

What is even happening?

Seriously. I mean, how do they make sure you're not looking at porn in another window during your sessions?

I bet you could stack cats, and not miss a beat.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Doesn't make it less terrifying, though.

Oh, definitely not. You just don't have to be a grownup to do it. No paperwork! No lawyers! (If you're randomly getting knocked up, I mean -- I know many people whose children came with paperwork and lawyers first.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't like today. On the upside, though, I have chocolate cake. On the downside, I've learnt that it's a really good idea to take my migraine prophylactics as scheduled. And that's the upside of the down bit.

Tidying will give me a sense of purpose, and I hope also a sense of achievement. I could even file.

Hmm. Framing that penultimate sentence made me wonder--how do Buffistas feel about the use of "hopefully" as a sentence adverb? As in, to replace "I hope" in the sentence under consideration. Bad? Inevitable? With precedent?

I know it's not right, but I do it anyway.

Wait, what? Was there something about a kid?

Bad? Inevitable? With precedent?

Yes.

I've always misused hopefully, but have recently become hyper-aware of it. I liked it better when I was unaware. Hopefully, I'll forget, soon.
