It's very intense.

I feel sorry for that one English guy who was a last minute sub and had to kick twice.

Oh totally, except he clearly was a penalty kick ringer and should have known better. When he went for it, even I thought "but there was no whistle!" And I am very dense when it comes to things like that.

Of course, since I was rooting for England, all English misses meant "aww" and all Portugal misses meant "yeah"!

That's why I feel bad for him - his only job all day was to make that penalty kick and he botched it by not waiting for the whistle. That has to suck.

Argh! I have errands to run, like picking up dog food and going to the library and picking up my sister's dog.

But the last time I drove my car was on Monday and I left the door open and the battery is dead. And I forgot to renew my AAA membership last month.

So I just went online and renewed my membership. How long should I wait to call AAA to come give me a jump?

Have you gotten a confirmation e-mail? If you have, I think you're good to call.

The ESPN curling announcers put the soccer commentators to shame.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I won't go near the ESPN commentary -- I'd much rather miss half of what they're saying on Univision than listen to the ESPN guys not bother to hide the fact that they don't know or care about soccer.

I just figured out yesterday that the ESPN commentator I hate the most used to play soccer in the US, so I guess it's just a different perspective and not complete ignorance.

My Spanish is sub-Sesame Street level, but even so one of my fondest memories is watching the '94 World Cup on Inivision down at the Laundromat in Chico. I could follow the game, so it didn't matter that I couldn't understand what anyone was saying. So fun.

Sadly, I lack Univision. Damn my illegal cable!
