"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

JZ? He is planning your headstone! Look out!

Too late. She ran away from the thread when we started all this grooooo-vay talk and will never see your post.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Because my phobias are freaky and random, I should note that it's literally only "groovy" that makes me want to listen from the hall and cry on behalf of the poor person saying it. The verb and gerund form of "groove" don't bother me at all; it's only "groovy" and "grooviness" that cause the pain.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Why am I suddenly sure I am going to be saying groovy the next time I see JZ?

Ann, that's a ferret.

The rate things are going, we may soon need a whole book of lists.

Wait, that's been done.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Boing Boing linked to a mashup project of Xmas songs, so I downloaded, then zipped them up into two convenient YSI links:

Yo, musicistas.

I am working on a frankenmix and I need some ideas for songs that feature good harmonica solos. Any thoughts are appreciated.

At the moment, all I can think of are artists that use the harmonica a lot - Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, a bunch of bluegrass dudes. But no individual songs.

I did think of "Middle of the Road" because I love that Hynde plays the harmonica herself - but I don't know if I want to put that on the mix. Anyway. Thanks.

edit: While I am asking, does anyone have an mp3 of "Sometime to Return" by Soul Asylum? My long-neglected copy of the CD is totally scratched and it fits another category perfectly.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anything with Little Walter should work. He's the best.

Also, Magic Dick with the J. Geils Band was a bit of an underrated genius on the instrument.

Bob Dylan plays the blues harp, of course.

Anything by Toots Thielman. He did do a version of the Sesame Street Theme that's pretty rocking.

Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You" has a great harmonica solo by Stevie.
