No. And yes. It's always sudden.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Gonna go see Chris Thile play tonight at the Sugar Club, and Neko Case tomorrow night. I really kind of want to go up to Chris and explain how I grew up with him and his bandmates, growing as they did while listening to their albums. But I probably won't.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ellen Willis, RIP.

That breaks my heart. Her essay on the Velvet Underground in Stranded is one of my favorite pieces of rock and roll writing ever. There was a time in the early to mid seventies when she was a far more important music critic than Christgau or Marcus.

Man, I agree. She was brilliant.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Anyone listened to the new Portastatic? Fan-fucking-tastic!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Remember when Brian Eno recorded the Windows 95 startup sound? The new version of Windows will have a four-second startup sound by Robert Fripp.

[link]

The short startup clip that was eventually chosen is meant to evoke the rhythm of the words "Win-dows Vis-ta!" and Ball hopes the sound will serve as a calling card for the operating system. It also consists of four chords -- one for every color in the new Windows graphic that appears as the sound plays. It's no coincidence that it's also four seconds long.

OK....

Latest purchase: E-Z Listening Disc by Devo. I first heard this from my older brother while I was still in highschool. Every single person I've ever played this for over the years has hated it with a passion, but I love it - especially "Satisfaction." The whole album is just way-stripped down, synth-only instrumental versions of Devo songs.

Has anyone else heard this?
