Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cool and freaky video: Gnarls Barkley's cover of "Gone Daddy Gone": [link]

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Thanks tommy -- I really liked that! Though, we should mention that if you have a bug squick, it's really not worth it to click on the link -- animated, but still bugs, you know?

Good point. But they're not the kind of bugs we usually see, but instead are the tiny tiny ones that live in your carpet, etc. I don't know if that makes it better or worse....

move out and draw fire

Just checking in to see how Hec's coming with that Halloween mix! I still listen to last year's (all day today, in fact), and I think Zombie King may be one of my favorite songs ever.

Um, what would the musical style of "Zombie King" be called?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Um, what would the musical style of "Zombie King" be called?

Elfmanesque? Cabaret calypso? Cab Calloway Swing? It's actually from a musical by a local theater group. The musical is titled Young Zombies In Love by Emerald Rain Productions and they have such other choice songs as "Flee! (Or a brief history of Zombism in Western Thought)"

Raq, did you see that he posted it?

Yeah, but I haven't posted the music yet.

True enough.

Man, I've been listening to these tracks from the Marie Antoinette soundtrack over and over and over. Gang of Four, New Order, Siouxie and the Banshees, Radio Dept. I can't wait to get my hands on this soundtrack in full. This is the most awesome music.

Has anyone listened to the new Hold Steadys album? That's been on consistent rotation this weekend too, and it's really good. Also picked up the Decemberists, Beck, Josh Radin, John Mayer (hush, David), the new Snow Patrol (extremely meh) and The Last Kiss soundtrack (high hopes dashed; it's not a quarter as good as Garden State's was, but maybe I'm wrong to compare). I also haven't been able to take off Justin Timberlake's new single, "My Love", from playing over and over again. Though I'm sure that's no surprise to anyone here.

Okay, I'm starting to send the songs.

I'm sending them to Buffistarawk2.

The password is the same except it ends with "2." [password]2

If you check the dates on that music you will see that that era coincides almost exactly with my college years ('79 - '83), and a couple years afterwards.

I figured it was around those dates. Well, I didn't associate it with you necessarily, but I knew it was early to mid-eighties. If I wasn't all about the alt-country, I would probably consider New Order to be the most perfect band there ever was. There's something about that whole era/kind of music that just...is perfect.

It occurs to me I should probably get my hands on more.
