This is sad! Poor Dinosaur Jr....
After a blistering set last night in Brooklyn, NY the band awoke this morning to find that the their trailer had been broken into and all of the gear has been taken.
J's Amma guitar, the mountain man guitar, Lou's Rickenbacker... EVERYTHING IS GONE. They are still taking inventory to see what else is gone but they were pretty much wiped out.
...
listed below is a list of gear that was stolen out of the Dinosaur Jr trailer last night (Tuesday 8.29.06) outside of their hotel in Long Island City, NY. We would appreciate spreading the word and passing this list around in hopes of recovering their gear. Please notify and alert your local guitar shops, pawn shops, music and web stores etc. to keep an eye out for this gear. Feel free to send this list to any and all band, tour and production managers, guitar freaks, touring personnel, venues, musicians and or thieves that you think could help us.
With a list of stuff and contact info following....

[snip] and there was some great incidental music throughout. [snip] So much so that I extracted the audio and will likely play it on my show this Friday.
I've been playing Myst IV in drips and drabs when I get a few moments, and the music is really good. I know the Myst games aren't necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but there's a couple of pieces on the score that are so good, I want to rip them off the DVD and put them in my music collection.
There's a few "adventure movie" cliches, but they handle them well, and put a bit of a new twist on them.

My totally selfish first thought was...I hope they're still playing here on Monday.
Every once in a while my brain will decide that there's some obscure song that I just
have
to have. This time it's Talking Heads "Love / Building on Fire" a.k.a. "Love Goes to A Building on Fire." Not the one on
Talking Heads: 77
but the one that was a b-side to something. I had a copy of it on the anthology album "Attack of the Killer B's" which came out in the mid-80s. I'm not sure if the version I want is on
Popular Favorites 1976-1992/Sand In the Vaseline or if that version is the same as on
77.

I'm fairly sure that song wasn't on
'77
unless it was put onto an expanded version. There's a great live version on
The Name of this Band is...,
or at least the expanded version CD I have. I'm not sure which one is on the Favorites CD or the box set that came out a couple of years ago.
I own Sand In The Vaseline and the version on that is 2:56 if that helps. Says it was recorded at Sundragon Studios, NYC.

You're right. And I just checked my iPod and saw that my
77
doesn't have it, so I'm not 100% that version is
not
the one I want.

Yeah, that version has always been there.
The version I want has trumpets and what-not....
Sand in the Vaseline's version has horns.
Ooh. That's pro'lly the one I want. Thanks.
Of course,
Sand in the Vaseline
is mostly songs I already have. Lemme' see if iTunes has it....
I'm listening to it right now. I'd send it to you, but I only have it on CD right now. If you need instant gratification, iTunes is faster!
