The second I read this:
KZLA's sudden and unannounced demise leaves America's two most populous cities, Los Angeles and New York, without country music stations.
I thought about the country dude (Jon?) from this:
The Real World 2.
So, you are not alone in using the Real World to shape your ideas about the real world, Tom.
I think Chicago has one country station. But just one.
Thanks, tina! I feel that my wrongness is validated now.
I was driving home from work, listening to the local "classic rock" station when they announced the winners of their latest contest, getting to play onstage with Ian (last name I forget) from Deep Purple during "Smoke on the Water". The reason I mention this? One of the winners plays the theramin, and they played part of his "audition tape".
"Smoke on the Water"
You mean "Slow Walkin Roger ( The Fire Engine Guy)"?
I don't know if people have seen the OK Go video or not: [link]
You mean "Slow Walkin Roger ( The Fire Engine Guy)"?
I'd always heard this as "Slow Motion Walter (The Fire Engine Guy.)"
One of the winners plays the theramin, and they played part of his "audition tape".
theremin.
errr... I mean... awesome! (really)
Hey, speaking of which, is that actually a woman singing in "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," like I read somewhere recently? Because to my ears it sounds awfully theremin-esque.
The original by the Tokens? Pretty sure it's a dude.
