Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Ten thousand fake band names: [link]
At least a few of those are names of real bands.
He says that in his "P.S.".
Hint hint.
Hmmm, was just thinking the other day that I need to sign up for another marathon so I'll stick to an exercise schedule & be able to fit into my clothes again. Perhaps one near Groundhog Day, when I'll turn 40 & hope to have a waistline somewhat south of that. Thanks for turning on the lightbulb. Of course, James Hand probably won't be in town then. (None of which is to suggest that I need any better reason to visit than to see you, Mrs. Corwood, & Lil' Sphere.)
ION, we're buying a house, and I hope to quit my job at the end of the year. (Shh! Don't tell the bank!)
The music-related reason I'm stopping by is that I sent Hec a Tommy Bolan profile (Creem, May 1972, by Dave Marsh.) Cover story -- and a filthy cover it is. If Marsh ever actually puts out "Onan's Greatest Hits" (cf. his essay in Stranded, Greil Marcus ed.) it's gotta be the cover. Guitar position, hand position, the Strat's head, Bolan's expression... what would the culture warriors say? Anyway, enjoy it, & I'll send the magazine after I scan the rest. I also included the "Straw Dogs" review for Corwood. And I bet "Who Is Teddy Villanova?" still didn't show up.
ETA: I sent it to buffistarawk2.
The house is Great! Congrats Joe.
That house is gorgeous, Joe.
For some reason, a lot of acts are coming to Halifax in Sept. Usually no one ever comes here, but so far for Sept we have John Prine, Dinosaur Jr, Billy Bragg, Metric and The Rolling Stones. I am excited about all but the RS, especially since they are playing in the field that is spitting distance from my house and I'm aniticipating a) A traffice nightmare and b) an apartment full of relatives.
Okay, music peoples, help me find a song. Does *anyone* have a MP3 of "On the Amazon" by Don McLean? iTunes doesn't have it, and I don't particularly want to buy an import CD for one song.
I can transfer a scratchy vinyl copy to CD if that will work for you, Jilli?
Congrats on the house, Joe! How about some photos of the jungle wallpaper?

I will love you forever, and send you fuzzy monsters if you want.
Jilli -- I did a transfer this morning. I should be able to get you an mp3 sometime this weekend. Profile addy OK?
