It's still stuck in my head. The synth riff is similar to "Dare," which also got stuck in my head easily.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
BTW, did you all know that Kim has set up Bubblegum University?
If you follow the links to Mondo Daddykin (under blogs), you can score some extremely rare tracks.
Interesting. Especially since I just saw Head.
One seriously strange movie. I'm not sure if it's an extremely profound critique of many elements of American society (much of which is still relevant today) with an emphasis on those elements that made the Monkees what they were, a sublimely silly movie about nothing or even less, or a complete mess, or all three. Probably the last.

One writer in particular is singled out for praise. Yeah, okay, it was me.

Sweet link, David! Congrats! Although I have to wonder if they were just offended by or didn't notice (for instance) the articles on Swamp Dogg or, say, Schoolly D.

Eh, you saw my Request For Proposal in the second round. I did have to go fishing to pull the writers away from their indie / punk / power pop / white guy bands. But I did think we had some kind of balance. Not enough rap for its place in the music constellation, but some balance.
Via The Morning News, again, a collection of Tom Waits clips.

Yeah, I remember. I'm still fairly rockist in outlook (that is, in how I understand rockism, which has been defined by the opposition, and where the hell is Angus, anyway?), but I've become much more of a hip-hop fan since hearing indie rock-sympatico guys like MF Doom, Lyrics Born, and Cannibal Ox.

I agree.
Friday YouTube goodness: Redman on MTV Cribs.
Anyone have the ability to convert tapes to digital files? I have some old no longer labeled mix tapes, plus a mix my brother made for me when he worked at a radio station with him talking on it and I'd love to have them digitally.
Some of the mixes I'd just liek to know what is on them so I can replace the songs with digital versions, but the birthday mix I'd love a copy of teh full thing.
