Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I suspect you have been somewhere I would have hitchhiked across the Atlantic to be. Or walked, despite the disagreement I have with open water.

Oh, no. I was just trying to prove my indie rawk cred before launching into a Paris Hilton discussion. Though now I think we need a festival featuring these musicians...

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

askye ... it's simple: a remix takes one existing song by one artist/band, and reworks that song to sound slightly different; a mash-up takes two different songs by two different artists/bands, and combines them into a completely new song. That's how I explain the difference.

"Either it's murder, or this library has a very strict overdue policy."

And Pixies might be the easiest one to get to appear. Two years ago, whoouldathunkit? But yeah, it would have been a killer line up.

Heh. Goths do something similar ("Siouxsie! Bauhaus! The Cure! Christian Death!") before we start discussing whatever vaguely mainstream-ish musical act has caught our attention.

Thrive to spite them

Tom, thanks for the link! Now I want to find most of those mash ups!

it's simple: a remix takes one existing song by one artist/band, and reworks that song to sound slightly different; a mash-up takes two different songs by two different artists/bands, and combines them into a completely new song. That's how I explain the difference.

I went with something like that, although you put it more succiently, but it didn't convience her. Monday I'm taking in some mash ups I have so she can hear the difference.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Let me start by saying: Pixies!

As a side note for LA peeps, when the Foo Fighters play here in August (Afoostically, no less), Frank Black will be opening for them one of the two nights they will be playing.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
