"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

One of the LitG contributors, Gen Conaty, saw Os Mutantes do a reunion show in England:

*********

I have to say those crazy dudes got game. Arnaldo was there, in a red bodystocking and black cape (Roger Manning eat your heart out), but I take it he is still infirm because he was seated for pretty much the whole show and at the very end, as everyone filed off stage, he paused in his exuberance to attempt a headstand, and ALL of the other performers ran over to him as you only run towards someone you are sure is gonna kick the bucket any minute. Sergio, on the other hand, was on his feet and I was totally unprepared for what a ridiculously gifted guitarist he would be, I had heard tell of his prowess but I don't tend to believe in that sh*t, and yet there it was, it was amazing! Very great singer too. No Rita Lee, but they brought some wonderful female singer with them (I was totally in love with her by the end, have to find out who she was) and lots of other singers too and they just made so much NOISE.

It was a very good show. They did play A Minha Menina, and my favorite Panis et Circenses at the very end, but I have to say that it was a sign of how great the show was that that wasn't the best part, it was just pretty wild all the way through and I VERY MUCH APPRECIATED IT since I'm still trying to get the Saran Wrap around my rattled psyche. It was good! They are very audacious. I like that!

(Gen later learned that the singer gal was one Zelia Duncan)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cool. I just added msbelle as a 'friend'; now I can see what she's downloaded.

Folks can feel free to check out my profile, cunningly hidden in plain sight with the username tommyrot.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Mine is "haydenchilds". Where I come up with these nutty nicknames, I'll never tell.

Also, seeing Os Mutantes = the most awesome.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I just added msbelle as a 'friend'; now I can see what she's downloaded.

You can do that even if you're a lurker like me.

Oh good - I didn't want to be her friend anyway....

Kidding! So what does having friends do for you, then? Is it just that it's easier to click on them rather than putting the name in the URL?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Something for Jilli, Hec, and hey, everyone else. That's definitely Klaus Nomi on stage.

Heh. I saw that when it first aired when I was in high school. Though apparently my brain couldn't retain the pink poodle imagery. I more remember the Klaus solo performance on SNL.

I'm not sure that human psychology was meant to hold such images for the long term.

Hey, I got this Gnarls Barkley album and it's pretty amazing.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Corwood, is "Crazy" typical of the album?

None of the other songs are quite as fantastic, but most have a similar (and brilliant) blend of 60s soul and 00s production.
