And iTunes has a new Decemberists EP out today called Picaresqueties.
Those were the bonus tracks that came on side four of the double LP vinyl version of Picaresque. "Bridges and Balloons", a Joanna Newsom song was additionally on that Believer comp CD of all cover versions.
The Dresden Dolls are from Boston. I seem to remember another Buffista from somewhere-that-wasn't-Boston also convinced that they were local to their area.
At least a couple folks I know from Tribe.net have toured with them, managed tours, etc. So what's their deal? Goth?
"punk cabaret" -- They're a duo, piano and drums usually. The music is rather Brechtian. Check out the website: [link]
Unfortunately, I seem to be on everyone's nitwit filter.
Or rather, I remember somebody here had an opinion about it but was too lazy to search for it.
Joe, I just emailed you. You might need to fish it out of your spam filter.
Spidra, I think there might be some Dresden Dolls up at Buffistarawk. I like them very much. "Coin Operated Boy" seems to be their best loved song, though I expect opinions will vary. You can hear a live version of that song at their website.
Thanks, Jon. I'd probably like them. Although I'm just stupid enough to be balky about it because of how hip they are among certain circles here. Heh.

The Dresden Dolls are a lot of fun. I need to go pick up the new CD.

I'm very fond of "Good Day" the lead track off the first album (with the great kiss-off line "I'd like to do more than survive, I'd like to rub it in your face!") and "Gravity", and I'd be hard pressed to come up with a scarier psycho-chick song than "Missed Me."
I really need to get around to listening to the new disc. My listening habits have gotten appalling.
