Hey Jon!
The Guest of Honor at the filk con I attended this weekend played theramin(among many other instruments) as part of his concert set.
He also gave a theramin workshop, and I got to try to play one.(alas, I couldn't get a recognizable tune out of it. In fact, it sounded like I was torturing a cat. Ah, well...)
What I have been listening to the last 2 days: Hem - No Word from Tom.
I've been listening to Great Lake Swimmers - Bodies and Minds

Sheryl -- Many a thereminist has been accused of emulating cat-torturing sounds. You're in good company.
Glad you had fun. What was the thereminist's name?
Alatriste teaser, I think we may have seen this before.
Wrong thread? Or am I missing something?

The guy who runs Misra Records lives right around the block from my house. My wife and his wife hang out sometimes.
I'm listening to Wilco - Kicking Television at the moment, but my recent playlist has been featuring the new Bats album, the two Deerhoof releases from last year, and Neko Case's Fox Confessor Brings The Flood.

I found it funny that I'd heard about a Toronto band from someone (on another thread) from Austin. But if their US label is from Austin, that makes more sense.
ARGH! So it occurs to me that I have totally screwed up and missed my deadline. Sorry gang. I haven't even had a moment to look at my CDs. I'll be able to put ont together, but I think this is where I move to the back of the line.
Sorry.
