And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Corn Flakes:

Homeland Security's been gassing us again:

Scientists released harmless tracer gases in midtown Monday as part of a study designed to better understand how airborne contaminants would flow through the city's streets.

"We want to be prepared if something nasty gets into the air," said Paul Kalb, a senior research engineer at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton.

In four locations, researchers released the colorless, odorless gases using syringe pumps, which slowly dispense several milliliters of the tracer in liquid form at regular intervals. When the tracer leaves the pump, it evaporates almost immediately.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

West 94th is right by an express stop on the 2/3 so its a quick 10 minutes to the theatre district -- but I can't get the link to load and I can't place the building in my head as far as telling you what it's like, etc. (its my neighborhood)

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

How far back do I have to go to find out what Allyson's good news is?

Did anyone else watch the Peter Jennings tribute tonight? Mostly, it was very good, but the regular Disney announcements were a bit repititious.

Connie, damn! where is that?

What a weird situation. {{{Fay}}}

Because books.

The alternative would be to accept a 3 month payoff and try to get temp work in the UK. And that's probably the smart move, careerwise, really.

Is there a reason you can't get teaching work in the UK, Fay? Is it too late in the summer to do that?

I just know that people who aren't familiar with the city often have a hard time with the subways. And if everyone Nora knows is staying in midtown, or thereabouts, she's probably better off closer.

I used to love the East 90s. Worked up there as a nanny for a while.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Ages and ages ago, well, yesterday, I joined a conversation on literary criticism, and then toddled off. I just wanted to say that ita and Strega made the exact points that I would have. Thanks!

I won't even go to beautiful B&Bs in the country, that make you share a bath--never mind in NYC.

Heck, the guests are probably all the same people.

Oh by all means!

Somewhere there is this really good list... let me poke around

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

fanny around

I love this. I keep saying "dicking around," but I might switch to this. If I don't tell people the British meaning of fanny, they'll even think it's less vulgar!

I vote more downtown and private baths as good things, as well.
