The latest info suggests someone got in and stole a bunch of user info. Not banking info, as they keep the donation system separate. But they recommend that if you use your AO3 username/password combo elsewhere, you change the password.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."
They reassured everyone that the data wasn't lost, and I hadn't even considered that possibility. So I freaked out and then was reassured in very short order.
