I will say, this is one of those quintessential yuletide stories, and it is hilarious.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.
I've never watched The Magicians (though I have read the first 2 books), but I fell backwards into fic for it, and now I can't stop reading it. My brain is so weird.

Have just started re-reading one of my comfort books, The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord. Why is there zero fanfic for this book on AO3? It's practically fanfic itself! So many possibilities! (Sadly I hated her other book set in this universe)

Steph, have you read greywash's Magicians fic? They're a good friend of mine, and imo they've written some of the definitive fic of the fandom as a whole.

YES! Their fic is some of my favorite in that fandom, especially the big holiday one (Our Place in the Family of Things). So, SO good.
